Dental Implant FAQ's

Discovering that you require dental implants can feel like a lot to take in. We understand that you may have concerns, which is why our team servicing Boise and Meridian, ID, is here to provide you with the information you need. Our goal is to ensure that you feel at ease and confident throughout your dental implant journey.

At Care Dental Implant & Cosmetic Center, we offer start-to-finish dental implant care. Our treatments are always highly personalized, so you can rest assured that your implants will be perfectly positioned and your restorations will look stunning.

Dental implants serve as replacements for missing teeth. They consist of the metal implant itself, which is placed into your jawbone and acts as a new tooth root; the restoration, which can be a single crown, a bridge, or a full denture; and the connecting abutment piece.

The implant process starts with a consultation. During this appointment, we discuss your implant needs, take 3D imagery using an advanced cone beam computed tomography system, and develop a treatment plan based on this information. We may also plan for any preliminary procedures needed before implant placement.

When it’s time to place your implants, we make sure to keep you comfortable from start to finish. Once we’ve numbed the area, we make a small incision in the gums where the implant will go. We carefully place the dental implant using specialized instruments, selecting the ideal placement site that will take advantage of the available bone structure. This approach ensures optimal results while harnessing the full potential of the implant. Once the implant is in place, we close the gums with stitches, and the healing process can begin.

Over a period of a few months, the implant will fuse with your jawbone, known as osseointegration. With the implant fused, we have essentially created a replacement tooth root, and the implant is ready for restoration. Depending on your needs, we top the dental implant with a crown, bridge, or denture.

Our goal is for you to be comfortable in the dental chair from start to finish. We use local anesthesia to numb the area we are working on, and if you need additional help to stay comfortable, we’ll discuss your options with you. No matter what, we monitor you throughout the procedure and tailor everything to your comfort level.

It’s very common for people to need dental implants at some point in their lives, and we are happy to provide dental implant care for adults of all ages. Missing teeth can happen for a number of reasons, including bone deterioration, infection, or injury. No matter how many teeth you’re missing or why they’re missing, we’re here to help restore your smile.

The cost of dental implants is highly variable. Patients who need a single tooth implant and dental crown will incur a vastly different cost than those who need a bone graft or the All-On-X procedure. During your consultation, we go over not only your treatment plan but also your estimated costs. This allows you to decide if implants are right for you right now.

We pride ourselves on providing personalized dental implant care for our patients, and that includes custom-made dental implant restorations. While we can sometimes provide same-day dental implants, you should expect to leave your placement appointment with a temporary restoration. While your implant heals, our lab will create a restoration, like a crown or bridge, that will fit perfectly and blend in nicely with any surrounding teeth.

There are many factors that go into determining if someone is a good candidate for dental implant treatment. This includes your dental and overall health, medications, the state of your jawbone, and more. We invite you to schedule a consultation with our team so we can determine if you’re a good candidate and the best dental implant option for your needs.
