Missing even a single tooth can affect your oral health and your self-confidence. At Care Dental Implant & Cosmetic Center, we understand the important role that dental implants play in a person’s dental health.
Our Meridian, ID, team of dental implant experts provides comprehensive single dental implants for patients missing one tooth or many. We will work with you to plan your treatment and ensure you’re happy with the result.

What Are Single Dental Implants?
A single dental implant is used as a one-for-one tooth replacement option. We place one implant in the space left behind by one missing tooth. This type of dental implant is typically topped by a custom-made dental crown, which blends in well with the surrounding teeth.
The Impact Of Missing A Single Tooth
Many people think that missing just one tooth isn’t a big deal, and therefore, don’t seek out dental implant care. But even one missing tooth can lead to several dental problems, including the following:
- Bite misalignment
- Changes to facial structure, including sagging cheeks
- Shifting of surrounding teeth
- Jawbone weakening and, eventually, bone loss
If you’re missing any number of teeth, it’s important to see a dentist to evaluate your oral health and determine the best treatment plan for you. If that treatment plan includes dental implants, we invite you to visit the Care Dental Implant & Cosmetic Center team to learn more and plan your implant journey.

Dental Implants vs Dental Bridges
Compared to other tooth replacement options, like traditional bridges and dentures, dental implants provide a variety of benefits. They are a permanent tooth replacement option, so once your implant and restoration are in place, you won’t have to worry about removing and cleaning appliances. Simply care for your implant as you would the rest of your natural teeth.
Other benefits of dental implants include the following:
- Preventing bone loss
- Restoring bite force
- Improving aesthetics of your smile
- Maintaining facial structure

The Process Of Getting A Single Dental Implant
To begin the dental implant process, we start by evaluating your overall oral health and taking images. In our office, we use the most advanced technology possible to ensure that we get an accurate picture of your teeth and mouth structures. Using cone beam computed tomography, or CBCT, we are able to take a 3D image of your teeth, jawbone, neck, and sinuses. This detailed imagery allows us to thoroughly plan your procedure from start to finish.
On the day of your procedure, we start by numbing the area. If you require more sedation than just the local anesthetic, please talk to your dental team about your options. Once the area is numb, the doctor makes a small incision in the gums to expose the jawbone where the missing tooth was. We place the implant, a small titanium screw, into the jawbone and then stitch the gums back up. Over the course of a few months, the implant will fuse with the jawbone, replacing the old tooth root and giving us a solid structure onto which we will place your custom-made restoration.
